PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has stated that natural calamities were a test from the Almighty Allah in which the patience and trust of the people are being tested and called upon the well-to-do people to play their due role in assisting the calamity hit people without waiting and depending on the financial aid being provided from the government. He was visiting the rainstorm hit areas of the city Monday afternoon to review the damaged caused by the rainstorm and to meet the affected families. The governor went to the residences of two real brothers Shahpur and Malyar in Wahid Ghari on Charsadda Road, Peshawar who’s seven persons were killed in the dreadful rainstorm. The governor announced provision of Rs. 5 lakh each to the deceased on behalf of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Rs. 50,000 each to the injured. Moreover, the governor also announced for provision of Rs. 50,000 each to the deceased from the Pakistan Baitul Mal. He also gave Rs. 50,000 cash to the injured on the spot. The governor also directed for provision of Rs. 100,000/- (one lakh) each to the people for repair of their damaged houses. He also directed for the provision of 200 tents to the effected people in Wahid Ghari. He also directed for issuance of ration cards for provision of 40 kilo packages of essential commodities to the effected people. The Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan also directed the Baitul Mal authorities to arrange full support, including academic expenses to those orphan children who’s parents had died in this dreadful incident. The governor also visited the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar and enquired about the health of the injured of this calamity. He went round many wards, met the inured one by one and provided Rs. 50,000 cash money to each injured on behalf of the prime minister and Rs. 25000 each from the Pakistan Baitul Mal. He also directed for provision of wheel chairs to some of the injured. Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan expressed server shock over this natural calamity that had effected a big portion of the city areas and saluted the valour, patience and determination of the Peshawarites in this hour of trail. He called upon the rich people to come forward and play their role in supporting the calamity hit people. He said it was the need of the hour that they should jointly assist their brothers in this hour of natural tragedy collectively side by side with the official machinery. He commended efforts of the Peshawarites who had done a lot in shifting the injured to the hospitals. The governor prayed to the Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss with patience and fortitude. He said though the financial assistance could not lesson their grief however, to some extent a timely remedy would be given to them. He directed the local administration to immediately start reconstruction work in the effected areas so that the people could be enabled to get their houses rebuilt. The governor also visited residences of the deceased, offered fateha and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.
